RxISK - Report Your Side Effects

Not an just an anecdote from RxISK.org & DavidHealy.org on Vimeo.

RxISK is the first free, independent website where patients, doctors, and pharmacists can research prescription drugs and easily report a drug side effect — identifying problems and possible solutions earlier than is currently happening. It was set up by psychiatrist and author, Dr David Healy.

“No one knows drug side effects like the person who is taking a pill. Yet your voice is increasingly being silenced. You and your doctor may have been told there is no evidence linking the treatment you are on to the problems you are experiencing. This is because most data on prescription drugs is owned by the multinational pharmaceutical companies who run almost all clinical drug trials (60% of which are never reported). They simply are not sharing data that may affect their bottom lines. There is a gap in the data that only patients, doctors, and pharmacists can fill.” ~Dr. Healy

We are asking you to please visit the RxISK website and report the effects from the medication you were/are taking. This is for benzos, SSRIs and/or other meds. Your contribution will impact the promotion of awareness and good practice in the future. So please click on THIS LINK and take a few minutes to share what your challenges have been. Thank you.

(Note: Please don’t ever be ashamed of your experience. It can be easy to fall into that self-blame mode, thinking you should have known better, etc. We are aware that there is stigmatisation as well, which can be difficult to deal with. Always remember that you have done nothing to be ashamed of.

The reality is that our challenges won’t ever be acknowledged if we don’t share them. You can use a pseudonym on Twitter and the RxIST accounts for privacy, but please consider taking the time to do what is necessary to change the way things are. We need your responses in order to be able to reflect the situation as it truly is.)
